The inscription reads:
In memory of eleven of the crew of the lifeboat "Eliza Adams" who lost their lives on duty in the disaster at Wells, October 29th 1880.
The same gauge as the Harbour Railway and founded by the owner.
Open sided carriages have advantages although much of the line is in a cutting.
Evidence of the line's origins as a standard gauge line.
These engines are very unusual having two separate articulated drive units with a central boiler. Garratt's will feature again later.
It was raining again so the pictures are'nt great. The main Church is still in regular use amongst the Priory ruins.
