The first few pictures were taken fromt he top of Sutton Bank (famous for stuck caravans and trucks).
There's an adder just visible in the grass.
This memorial is to all the aircrew who lost their lives in the surrounding area during WWII, particularly the crew of a Halifax bomber which crashed nearby, and also to the pilot of an F86 Sabre which crashed in 1954.
Iron ore was quarried here and processed before being carried out by rail. There was a large chimney, hence the name.
This was a Royal Observer Corps post - it would have been used in the event of the cold war escalating.
You can see the remains of the tramway that was used to haul the iron ore up from the mine to the top of the bank. The railway didn't run down from here, it went round the top of the hills.
A very pretty village! The pub has free WiFi as well.
This is located at Helmsley - well worth a visit.
This is one of the hidden gems I found simply by following the signs. It's near Kirkbymoorside and dates back to about 1055.
