Monday - Strathspey Railway

This was the last day or the tour and the only preserved railway we travelled on, unusual compared to most of my holidays. The Strathspey is in the heart of the Cairngorms running from the Scotrail station at Aviemore through Boat of Garten to Broomhill. After the railway we went down to Pitlochry for lunch and shopping. The Whisky shop did get my custom. That was really the last stop of the tour, from there we dropped a few people off in Edinburgh and the rest of us travelled back to George Square in Glasgow. 4 of us were stopping in the Millenium so we did have a last dinner together.

A bit of a come down, just a 2MT this time.

They'd reserved the buffet car for us, mainly to sell us drinks and biscuits,

It was very nice though.

Broomhill was used for the railway shots in Monarch of the Glen on TV.

Supposed to be one of the finest golf courses in the country.

I thought I'd better include some shots of my fellow tourists

Work was well on the way with the third Forth Bridge.
