Saturday - Dingwall to Wick

This was a day of travel by regular scheduled service along another of the great Scottish lines up the East Coast. We were supposed to visit Thurso as well, Britain's most northerly station, but there was a problem with the train. It was a two-car diesel set but the engine failed on one car. Rather than risk the top part of the line we swapped trains with a south-bound service which inevitably caused considerable delay. To mitigate this they arranged taxis for the few people travelling to Thurso from Georgemas Junction and we went directly to Wick. I'll have to go again some time.

Picture quality isn't great on some of these as they were mainly taken through train or coach windows.

The Hotel

I took the opportunity of a walk round Strathpeffer. This was the Highland Hotel where we were stopping. It wasn't great, being part of Shearings we were a bit lost amongst the larger coach parties.
