The Waterworks Museum

I came across The Waterworks Museum at Hereford quite by accident! Having visited the City (on a very wet day) I happened to see a brown tourist sign. Never being one to miss an opportunity I followed it through the middle of a housing estate and then down a very narrow lane! Unfortunately it transpired that it only opens on certain days and was shut. the good news was that the following Sunday was not only a steaming day but something of a Gala with classic vehicles there as well.

The museum is fascinating for anyone with an interest in mechanical devices and engines, housing a large collection of both - from small Stirling Heat Engines, through small and large Diesels (the biggest is a Tangye 97 litre single-cylinder) to a huge steam engine. Add in various pumps and other artifacts and it fills in a few hours!
