Monday - Glasgow

I made full use of the extra day to have a good walk (and ride) around Glasgow. It wasn't long after the Commonwealth Games so the last clearing up was still going on. The first job of the day was to move my bags from the Premier Inn to the Millenium Hotel. I'd booked the latter through the tour company partly because the bus was supposed to pick up from there - in the end it was from the other side of George Square but no matter.

I found Glasgow a strange mix of the old and new, of regeneration and of dereliction - this is reflected in some of the photos.

This Dali painting in Kelvingrove is very powerful. It's slightly odd seeing people pray in a museum but the picture is located such that you can do so.

I used the subway to trave out to Kelvingrove and back. It's a continuous loop so of course I travelled right round.

I took this picture from the dining room at the hotel. The view typified much of the City, a Georgian building with a modern glass atrium.
